Allocation of the Foundation's gift to the district
How is your money being spent?
The Foundation presents its gift to the District each fall. The funds are designated for specific programs that impact all students, and across all grade levels. The District and the Foundation work together to determine the allocations. While the Foundation originally focused on enrichment programs that had been cut from the District’s budget, today it supports positions that are fundamental to operating the District, such as the IRC librarian and counselors. In the last few years, the Foundation has turned its attention to class size reduction. Initially, the Foundation provided the funds required to get state matching funds for K-3 class size reduction. Since then, additional teachers have been provided to reduce class sizes in 9-12, and, most recently, funds have been provided to access state matching funds for 9th grade class size reduction, resulting in 20 or fewer students in 9th grade math and English.
